Aren’t doulas just for (home)birth?

Doulas operate in all kinds of spaces and circumstances!

Doulas run the full spectrum of experiences relating to pregnancy & birth. There are doulas for birth, postpartum, infant loss, and beyond!

As a postpartum doula, I focus on the first three months of the postpartum time period, often referred to as the Fourth Trimester.

How can I afford a doula?

Here are some tips for affording doula care on a budget:

  • Request doula services as part of your gift registry by using an alternative registry platform such as MyRegistry.com (so many traditional registry items can be found second hand, too!)

  • Use an HSA / FSA as described here

  • Work with a doula that utilizes a sliding scale (like me!)

What can you offer that my family can’t?

  • Objective, non-judgmental, third-party perspective

  • Evidence-based, up-to-date information on infant care and the postpartum time period

  • A wealth of community-based resources for just about any challenge that may arise! Consider me your rolodex.

How can I receive doula care safely during Covid?

I am vaccinated against Covid-19 and am happy to wear a mask in your home. It’s also possible to receive support through video calls, though that will limit what type of support I can provide. There are lots of creative solutions; if you are interested in doula care reach out and we can discuss options!
